Multidisciplinary treatment planning
Multidisciplinary care is care provided by clinicians from a range of disciplines. Multidisciplinary meetings evolved in response to the increasing complexity and specialisation of cancer care.
An MDM is a regular meeting of core and invited team members to plan treatment for patients. Patients are discussed when they are newly diagnosed or needing a review. Team members from two or more health services can join MDMs via electronic links. This type of integrated team approach can reduce mortality and improve patient experience and quality of life.
