North Eastern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service, or NEMICS, is a clinical network. It resulted from the Cancer Services Framework for Victoria (2003) when nine Integrated Cancer Services (ICS) were formed across Victoria. NEMICS is one of three metropolitan, five rural and one state-wide paediatric Integrated Cancer Services.
Our stakeholders include public and private health services, general practitioners, community health sector, consumers and our funders, the Department of Health. What brings us together is our commitment to achieve the highest quality care for people with cancer.
Austin Health acts as the host agency, where the NEMICS Directorate team is based. The director is Associate Professor Paul Mitchell, the manager is Ms. Kathy Simons; there are a number of service improvement and project staff.
NEMICS has a governance structure that includes a Governance Committee, a Clinical Reference Group, a Consumer Reference Group and multidisciplinary teams of clinicians in each of the ten tumour streams.
