Governance Structure
Governance Committee
The purpose of the Governance Committee is to provide leadership and vision for the establishment and development of NEMICS. The Committee meets quarterly, and is chaired by Allan Lily, Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Health. Each of the four health service CEOs is a member of the Committee, along with senior clinical and administrative representatives from each participating health service.
Reference Group
The Reference group provides advice to NEMICS Governance Committee regarding the delivery of high quality cancer services. The role of the Reference group is to guide, support and facilitate improvements in cancer services within the tumour groups and the health services.

The group has a multidisciplinary membership of approximately 18, reflecting the range of cancer stakeholders in the hospital and the community. There are 10 tumour group representatives, 2 consumer representatives, and 5 others representing allied health, quality, general practice and the community.

Local Collaborating Tumour Groups (LCTG)

There are 10 local collaborating tumour groups – representing the ten most common cancer types: Breast, Central Nervous System, Colorectal, Genito-urinary, Gynaecology, Haematology, Head and Neck, Lung Skin and Upper Gastrointestinal.

LCTGs are involved in:

  • Service mapping and planning
  • Service improvement – working towards patient focused and evidence based practice
  • Standards and clinical practice
  • Leadership and communication

Membership: The LCTGs consist of members from a range of disciplines and health services within NEMICS. There is an aim to have two consumer representatives in each LCTG. Members provide input into the group that reflects knowledge and expertise relevant to the tumour stream. Learn more about NEMICS initiatives
